Esak Garcia has been a yoga devotee for over 20 years. He was trained by Radha Garcia (his mother), Bikram Choudhury and Mary Jarvis. He leads day-long workshops and weekend long seminars during which he coaches students into greater self awareness of breathing, stillness and posture technique. In addition, he leads quarterly trainings that guide experienced yogis and yoginis into deeper asanas and prepare aspiring yoga athletes for yoga championships. His family has owned and operated a Hot yoga studio in Boulder, Colorado since 1994.
In 2005 Esak won an international yoga championship called the Bishnu Charan Ghosh Cup. Esak is also a founding member of USA Yoga and the International Yoga Sports Federation, which are non-profit organizations that have the objective of promoting yoga sports. Esak became interested in Yoga as a high school athlete at the age of 17. He used yoga to condition himself to play baseball and American football.
Born and reared in Boulder, Colorado Esak has also lived in New Haven, Conecticut, in São José Dos Campos and Salvador, Brazil, in California's Bay area, and as a small child, in Acapulco, Mexico.
Esak graduated valedictorian from Boulder High School, then studied Political Science and philosophy at Yale University. He studied the Afro-Brazilian martial art of Capoeira for over 10 years and has continuously practiced Hot Yoga since 1994. He graduated from Bikram's Yoga College of India in 2001. Esak is currently a student of the Institute of Ancient Mysteries with whom he learns and practices Universal Law and Egyptian Mysticism.
